Early Treatment
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends parents schedule an initial consultation for their child with an orthodontist by the age of 7. At this age, orthodontists notice the patterns of surfacing teeth and jaw alignment. Dr. Fontaine offers free initial consultations for prospective patients. We believe in a financially conservative and proactive approach to orthodontics. He prescribes orthodontic treatment during the first exam to only about one-third of those examined. Dr. Fontaine realizes that each case is different and the optimal time for correction is different for everyone. Dr. Fontaine will typically wait until all or most of a patient’s adult teeth have come in to begin treatment, unless the case is severe and warrants earlier correction.
Orthodontics for Adults
Many adults are hesitant to get braces because of their age. Dr. Fontaine reassures adult patients that they should not be embarrassed; the number of adults getting braces has increased steadily throughout the years.
Dr. Fontaine has treated many adult patients during his orthodontic career. We offer the same variety of services to adults and treatments for anything from minor movement to major cases with dentofacial deformities. Adults tend to require a different route to treatment because their jaws are no longer growing.
Dr. Fontaine and his staff will carefully devise adult treatment plans after going over alternatives to meet the patient’s needs. Our staff works alongside your general dentist and other specialists to give you the best results. We offer Invisalign for those adults who require minor correction and want a beautiful smile without braces.
